During injection molding process, many factors can affect the quality of plastic injection molding products during injection melding process. Many different deflects of injection molding products may arise, such flash, silver mark, bubble…
Flash (Burr)
Flash refers to excess material in thin layer exceeding normal part geometry of injection molding products. Many reasons can lead to this problem, for example, mold is over packed or parting line on the tool is damaged, too much injection speed/material is injected, clamping force is too low. It can also be caused by dirt and contaminants around tooling surfaces. So we can try to solve this problem by respectively by reducing the amount of plastic injected into cavity, improve the mold parting line, lowering injection pressure, choosing a larger injection machine and cleaning the mold surface.
Voids
A void means empty space within part. The void could happen at any area or part. It is not limited by the thickness but by the resin flow and thermal conductivity, but it is more likely to happen at thicker areas like ribs or bosses of injection molding products.
Lack of holding pressure (holding pressure is used to pack out the part during the holding time) is one of reasons. Too high injection molding speed may also lead to this problem because the plastic filling the cavity too fast, not allowing the edges of the part to form.
Flow Marks (Flow lines)
Flow marks are directionally wavy lines or patterns caused by slow Injection speeds. The plastic has cooled down too much during injection. So injection speeds should be set as fast as is appropriate for the process and material used.

We shouldn’t start the injection machine if the temperature of the material barrel hasn’t reached the preset temperature. Screw of injection machine can be handled after the temperature of electric heating reaches to the set point about 30 minutes.
Every time after the injection molding machine have exceeded half an hour, it will be better to shut up the blanking mouth and clean up the plastic in the material barrel. And then set the heat preservation.
Avoiding the foreign material dropping into the material barrel to damage the screw and barrel material. Prevent the flifler and sundries from dropping into the hopper. If process recycling material, it needs magnetic hopper prevent scrap iron from entering into material barrel.
Avoid the screw idling and skid.
When using the new plastic, we should clean up the excess material which in the material barrel. When using POM, PVC, PA+GF, we should reduce the degradation of the raw material. After the injection machine has stopped, we should use ABS or other degradedmaterial to wash out.
We should prevent the POM and PVC from dropping into the material barrel at the time. Because it may cause serious industrial accident under the melting temperature.
- When finding the molten plastic emerge black spot or change color on the occasion that the temperature of the molten plastic is normal. We should check whether the non-return valve of the screw is damaged.

In another passage we have talked about Flash, Flow Marks and Voids, in this passage we will talk about Warping, Weld line, Silver marks.
Warping (Twisting)
Warping is the distorted part caused by too short cooling time, too hot material, a lack of cooling around the tool, incorrect water temperatures (the parts inwards towards the hot side of the tool) and uneven shrinking between areas of the part in injection molding process. We can avoid warping respectively by lengthening holding time, reducing material temperature……
Weld line(Knit line / Meld line / Transfer line)
Weld line is discolored line where two flow fronts meet. Reasons cause weld line may be too low mold/material temperature during injection molding (the material is cold when they meet, so they don't bond). Weld line can be minimized or eliminated with a mold-flow study when the mold is in design phase. Once the mold is made and the gate is placed, one can minimize this flaw only by changing the melt and the mold temperature during injection molding process.
Silver marks (Splash mark / Silver streaks)
Silver marks means circular pattern around gate caused by hot gas because there exists some moisture in the material, usually when hygroscopic resins are dried improperly. Too hot material during injection molding is also one of reasons.

Auxiliary equipments for injection molding machine is necessary when customer buy new injection machine. The most common used plastic auxiliary equipments have auto loader, hopper dryer, water chiller, mould temperature controller, crusher, and air compressor and so on.
How to choose plastic auxiliary equipments accordingly?
Auto Loader and water chiller are necessary for each machine, different size machine and different product will choose different model equipments. However for other equipments, it is not all necessary, it can be chose accordingly. For example, air compressor is used for the mould which need air ejector, like the thin wall container mould or preform mould, it need air compressor to use the valve pin.
For mould temperature controller, it is used to molding some special material like PC, it needs to keep the mould temperature in a certain value.
For crusher and mixer, it can be used separately not together with injection machine. Several injection machines can use one crusher.

Lubricationand maintenance is very important to an injection machine, it will affect the machine life directly. Injection machine need lubricating oil for all the moving parts. During the injection molding, lots of moving part on injection machine making energy transformation; so the lubricating oil can reduce the wear abrasion.
Injection machine have automatic lubrication system for clamping unit. During the machine working, lubricating oil pump will offer oil to clamping parts automatically. Of course common injection machine has manual lubrication system for injection unit.
Injection machine don't have requirement on the lubricating oil brand and type. But different lubricating oil could not be mixed together, because they have different ingredient, it may reduce the lubricating performance, and damage the steel casting.
